Abstract. Megawati EI, Pradipta SID, Damia U, Kustiati Wihadmadyatami H, Kusindarta DL. 2023. Morphological identification of the squirrel (Callosciurus notatus) tongue through Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) and histochemistry. Biodiversitas 24: 2302-2314. Squirrel plays an important role in agricultural ecosystem.Their urine feces kill coconut tree pests help preserve farming productivity. This research focuses on morphological lingual papillae distribution Callosciurus notatus’stongue. The morphology notatus were investigated two different methods: using scanning electron microscopy histology. paper provides macroscopic histological notatus. Macroscopically, is divided into apex, corpus, radix. dorsal surface apex groove lateral prominence occur. SEM light observation showed that bears three types papillae: leaf-like filiform, bifid fungiform. corpus includes wide filiform papillae, saw-like fungiform papillae. On radix, there are conical like vallatae part radix Weber’s glands react strongly positively by Alcian Blue (AB) pH 2.5 periodic acid Schiff (PAS) staining; consist neutral acidic mucin. Von Ebner’s at textus muscularis striatus syncytialis near which weakly to PAS stain did not AB stain; von Masson Trichromestain revealed collagen structure lamina propria mucosae apex; moderately lesser

Morphological and histochemical investigation of the camel (Camelus dromedarius) abomasal mucous membrane by light and scanning electron microscopy (SEM)

Morphological and histochemical study of the abomasal epithelium in camel (Camelus dromedarius) wascarried out by light and scanning electron microscopes. The lining of the abomasum was divided into fourregions, i.e. cardiac, pseudocardiac, fundic and pyloric. Our investigation revealed that the cardiac andpseudocardiac regions occupy a wide part of the abomasum in camel and it reaches approxim...

Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) analysis and biological control of Ixodes ricinus using entomopathogenic fungi

In the present study, pathogenicity of four native strains of Entomopathogenic fungus; Metarhizium anisopliae, was studied against adult stage of Ixodes ricinus. For this purpose a total number of 180 adult ticks were examined in triplicate. Thirty ticks for each strain and negative and positive controls were immersed in 2.4×107 fungal conidia/ml in vitro. Samples were incubated in separate Pet...

Fat uptake evaluation in fried fish fillet by using Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM)

The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of breading materials and two different frying oils on the fat up-take in the fish fillets during frying process. Breaded and non-breaded black pomfret (Parastromateus niger) fillets were fried in sunflower oil and palm olein. Fat content by Soxhelet method and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) was studied. Results from Soxhelet method showe...

Nano-Structure Roughening on Poly(Lactic Acid)PLA Substrates: Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) Surface Morphology Characterization

Scanningelectron microscopy (SEM) has been utilized  to examine  the morphology and topography alterations  in the surface of Poly(Lactic Acid)(PLA) fabrics due to UV/Ozoneirradiation. In the past decade, a growing attention in the usage of “Green Techniques” in industrial applications has been observed owing to many benefits such as low impurities and their relatively low cost to substitute th...
